They Just Don't Give a Sh*t, Do They?

The older I get the more I shake my head,
At things people do, at words they have said.
Do they think they are fooling us?
Not a chance, no way!
Theory.
They just don't give a sh*t, do they?

We have a government, self-serving and bloated,
Driven by special interests, not people who voted.
No more sound bites, stop lying,
Listen to us will ya, HEY!
Assumption.
They just don't give a sh*t, do they?

And drug companies, peddling every placebo and pill,
for all manner of ache and pain, fever or chill?
Cure something for Christ's sake!
Why just keep illnesses at bay?
Inference.
They just don't give a sh*t, do they?

And why have tuition rates shot skyscraper high,
Shackling a generation for life, paying loans til they die?
University presidents troll out pretext and excuse,
as graduates keep collection agencies at bay.
Hypothesis.
They just don't give a sh*t, do they?

Let's not forget the major college athlete of football or hoops,
used up and discarded - the University's reply? Oops!
With the NCAA its partner in crime,
making millions and billions - pay the players? No way!
Deduction.
They just don't give a sh*t, do they?

Moving on to that giant, the concussed NFL.
Newsflash! Fans love the hits, the violence they sell.
So the Commish wisely settled the suit,
Knowing what all fans silently say.
Guess?
They just don't give a sh*t, do they?

And there is a question that stumps me - in fact I've hit a wall.
Why is pollution bad for people, but the planet not at all?
Can someone explain that without saying,
No worries - the 2nd coming is soon, any day.
Possibility?
They just don't give a sh*t, do they?

There is nothing groundbreaking about not caring a bit,
Forever mankind and nature would absorb each new hit.
But now ripples extend much further and longer,
weakening the weak - strengthening the stronger.

Still, humanity is lucky - history, a fleeting thing,
tables always turning, with new pawns and new kings.
Maybe a once-mighty piece will be laid low and in front,
perhaps asking itself, Why me? Why?
Answer.
I just didn't give a sh*t, did I?
